SONGS MATTER! Don’t you agree?

Songs are the sound track of our lives; connecting people and places. Have you ever had that sensation of time travel when you hear a certain song?

“Purple Rain” always takes me back to my years at Oberlin College and that moment when I decided I needed to leave there to pursue my dreams!

What is a song the made a huge difference in your life?

Bob Tranchell and Teresa Davis (Brown) singing “Remember the Lord” in Upside Down

I could think of several… but “Remember the Lord” from the musical Upside Down, performer in 1987 by Bob Tranchell and Teresa Davis was one that had a HUGE influence on me . It was January 5th, 1991. I had been studying the Bible with Laurie earlier; than Bob came in and said: “You know all you need to know to follow Jesus, you just need to decide.” Then he put on a video of this song- and it sure softened my heart! I was baptized the next day!

Later, when my then boyfriend (now husband) Ralph and I had broken up for a time and I wondered what the future for us would be, I focussed on the Lord deeply. I listened again to this song and through my tears I promised to put God first no matter what.

Thank you to Sherwin MackIntosh for writing it and Bob and Teresa for singing it- and for God for moving my heart with it. Tracy  Larr and Lorean Raftas  were going to sing it at our wedding, but we ran out of time. That’s another story for another time!

So what’s a song that plays the soundtrack behind part of your life’s journey?
